MadMarx
Hi Criss did you try wellseal on both the gasket and the block / head surfaces? Roy I did try several compounds for sealing: Silicone Hylomar Loctite Würth Motordicht The best results I had with Würth Motordicht as it lasted the longest distance (3-5 race events) But the same race distance I can do without any sealant, using a dry gasket. It really depends on the full throttle length on a track. Spa or Nordschleife is hard to the gasket. Cheers Chris

MadMarx
I never heard before of wellseal. The reason why I moved on to dry gasket was that at the track at Dijon an MG tuner said that with a sealant between head gasket and the cast iron there would be a little space created by the sealant and that would reduce the pressure on the liners and so they fail on high combustion at full throttle. I think there is some logic in this. What do you guys think? Edited December 20, 2010 by MadMarx

Ian Vincent
Neil Revington recommends the use of Heldite sealant for solid gaskets. Rgds Ian
