Injector Pipes

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there that can make & supply a decent bracket/clamp for securing and tidying up the slack in the injector lines? Something that fastens onto the rocker cover, specifically an alloy rocker cover with it's deeper recess at the studs. I'm not keen on a cable tie or strap idea.

More than happy to pay for time & materials.

Richard,

IMHO, it may not be a good idea to tie down the injector hoses. But tieing them together as they cros over the top of the engine might do the job?

This set of plug lead ties is very cheap and offers several ways of doing so: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112275090392

Ahhh Stuart,

That's precisely the idea I had this morning and removed a clamp to suits six pipes from a scrap Volvo Penta engine we have in our yard.

John,

Why wouldn't you think it a good idea?

Furtha t, Johns concerns, I med a clamp for mine

it looked good, nice an neat,

2 bits of 10 mm alloy, drilled thru so injector pipes just clamped when the middle hole nut was tightened up

{ 3 holes either side oft rocker cover stud hole }

Butt, this caused unwanted fuel heating probs, as hoses were noo litterally clamped t, rocker box

so got all radiated heat, direct into pipes.

no a problemo at speed, but idle, an aroond the toon, it showed up

Solution, used the same bracket, but med a longer set of hoses,

an thee,s hoses went to bulk heed, and then to the manis.

solved the problemo of petrol vapourising int pipes, an injectors cutting oot.

pipes are v v easy t,mek up ** and can be custom med t,fit perfectly an look good.

** 2 bits of wood, an drill between them, slightly smaller than hose,

clamp in a vice, wid pipe between the 2 bits, 1/2 inch or so pipe showing,

a wee bit of lube on unions, an wak the fittings into the pipe,

job done

Note, dooing it this way, its v v easy t,get rocker box off, an also nee pipes int way wen yer adjusting things

maybe thee,s might be of intrest

The later 1974 on TR6 used clips which separated the injectors. The clips themselves attached to brackets on the rocker cover however not really necessary to do so if all you are doing is tidying up the injector pipe runs. These clips are available from the likes of James Paddock for not very much money and the later rocker covers come up fairly regularly on eBay. http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/injector-pipe-retaining-clip-holds-x4-2

cheers
