Bosh fuel pump

Recommended Posts

When wiring up the bush fuel pump it has been suggested to use the original wires to control a relay switch (no problem)

then run a thicker wire direct from the battery my question, is this wire connected to the battery?

also the car seems to run a lot better with the new pump more reve or is this my imagination ?

On my 5 I installed a relay (kindly supplied complete with wiring and crimps) that John Larcombe ('Jonlar') made up... The relay is supplied by the existing wiring with heavier duty wiring used as the supply and earth from suitable source - battery.

Thanks Bill

I have seen this diagram before and can understand what is all about I do not no what the M stands for on the drawing though

I still have my question, do you bolt the wire on the battery with an in line fuse or is there a better way to source the power direct

Hi Pinky

The M is the motor in the pump assembly. This diagram was originally for a wiring modification for the Lucas pump but will do equally well for the Bosch pump. See this web site http://www.kvaleberg.com/t_pi.html#modifications which contains a lot of info for Lucas petrol injection. To be safe the supply for the battery must be fused an inline 30 amp fuse should be fine.

Best regards

Bill

Or use a fused relay.

Bought Bosch pump, 2 filters, braided hosed cost is less than £200 (these guys supply the TR specialists) for less than £200 and kept original wiring. NO problems in 3 months and a few thousand miles.
