Charlie D
Hello All, There is a 1954 Hillman Minx Californian on eBay at the moment https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315348590125 I’ve never seen one before, but what really intrigues me is an item attached to the bulkhead. I can’t work out what it is/does. I thought I was quite familiar with all the bits found on British cars of this era, but this has stumped me. It looks like part of a fuel pump, but I don't think it is. Any ideas? Charlie.

I did think the same but could not work out why it was there. I think Bob has the answer. 1 hour ago, Lebro said: Looks like an under bonnet light to me, bulb inserted into the tube from underneath ? 32 minutes ago, stuart said: Don't know, seems to have a pipe with a hose clip coming in the top. That's the bit that threw me. I was working on something more sophisticated than a light. I thought the bit sticking out at 10 o'clock was a spark plug, and the whole device was some sort of buit-in spark plug cleaner. (Blowing grit and compressed air over the end of the plug.) Maybe I overthink things sometimes. Thank you all for your assistance. Charlie Edited May 10 by Charlie D

I always think it's the availability of glass that can make a car worth restoring or not. If one of those back quarter glass bits get smashed I doubt if you could ever get another. (It says there is a spare piece in the boot, but bound to be the wrong side if one was ever broken.) I noticed it sold at auction on 27 April for £1,744 . Someone hoping to make a quick profit.
