As you probably are aware the TR6 has an interior light fitted to the transmission tunnel behind the handbrake, operated by switches on each door.

I have an interior light fitted to my 4, but it's attached to the rollbar. You could use a strip led which would stick to the surrey top, I use a red one to light the auxiliary switches on the 4 beneath switch plinth, similar to these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285199312671?hash=item426734271f:g:iJ8AAOSwT7VkcCp3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0DjC9bj7uwQqRdnQIq0xJwRyurkAuW4e68gET8UAZwRyadh2%2FcDVi7BQOcy8kn%2F1JP0PVUV9onOYt9LmpHuzj3Khy4pL%2FC77mP%2BOhFBS4E4aOsLXpICxbsHNcL7yU%2BBZVvCQmhcAy4VnB9ZI2rmqHkvc32yA9YS0Fz4BJ%2ByxGIeMRASRuWmqkGsoFe59Y3B1lMIQDJNHm6i6dSKUqOIR2cjrTBogmm%2FIsB9KIN%2BaD0AGrrabtKITHTdUom4iWvbOJb30xB0SwpjQv3toJAhvMFo%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7irq9enYw

Mike I fitted a couple of classic looking interior light over the  door openings of my 3a hardtop - thought I’d add the wiring whilst doing the refurb and headlining.
but I only have them switched at the light unit. And a makeshift plug to aid hardtop removal.
I have the bulb version ( rather than LED so they may be better now.

I made up an Z" shaped bracket and fitted a strip of white LEDs to the inside for interior use and a strip of red at the rear to act as a high level brake light, the reason for the shape of the bracket was so the bottom of the rear side had a strip of rubber and fitted up against the rear screen to prevent the red light spill into the cabin.

I have the parts to do something similar to Stuart but on my 6 which has a roll bar. Like Dave, I have removed the interior light from the transmission tunnel behind the seats and relocated the wiring to the base of the roll bar. I have purchased a 'cut to length', self adhesive, strip of LED lights which I will stick under the roll bar. On a test it's pretty unobtrusive. It will be operated by the existing door switches but I have an override switch too. Thinking I might now add a high level red brake strip on the rear of the roll bar having read Staurt's post! Just need some warm and drier weather to get into the lock up!

This is the type of LED strip. Reasonably unobtrusive: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204458818582?hash=item2f9ab1fc16:g:27wAAOSwrqJlABOA&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwAvRHwneGjipr8rFTXISWoThKNIXjlDmqR5E1eZpA0JebZdoIlWn%2F90HP0VRfl%2F3wZp1bHvfQKwGM%2BXtqsyhiiIObCbEn8eoB1Ffgmgi2C0oyAdBjh%2FXWgk2IchYRI2db0HjvkGg8HbJEyHVpA4we1S47ncrG8E3RMEgafly2tWLh3w9AbaNf0GqOtHpbUeLap9DQ2PR4quzVKlKgnYfZRsLcbLJEhFmfM3ATx6b6dNsPnuLatmnC5HHj78pr7PvFA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABlBMUIi6oNOoYw

I used very similar to this on my roll bar. Just didn’t use the indicators but you could ! It’s in a flexi but sealed strip.

I made up a simple plug arrangement so I could swap between that with no top and this with the hardtop

Works for me.
