rjs993
Hi Folks, I bought two new front flexible hoses part no. GBH206 for my TR4 which when fitted seemed short to me. When I compared them with the old hoses I had take off the new ones are indeed a good inch and a half shorter. The part numbers all seem to check out fine so I am confused as to which is the right hose length although as mentioned the new ones do look short when the front wheels are turned from lock to lock i.e. the hoses seem to pull. All thoughts, ideas and suggestions welcome. Thanks Robert

BlueTR3A-5EKT
The web stores suggest this hose is 320 mm long. How does that compare to what you have fitted and have been sold? I have a couple of used ones somewhere. Can measure if you need.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
More importantly the hoses measure 11 1/4” between the stops. This is the measurement of a NOS Girling and a couple of used hoses from my TR. The Girling braked TR3 uses same front hoses as TR4.
rjs993
Thanks for the feedback. Here is what I have: Total length (in mm): Old pipe: 320mm. New pipe: 285mm. Between the stops (in inches): Old pipe: 11". New pipe: 9 3/4". Too short me thinks!

Had you fitted them and the hose torn out on full lock whose fault would the accident have been? Another bit of ammunition for the anti car lobby. Old car fixed by owner - unsafe Now ask the supplier what they are going to do to rectify the issue. PS. Just a thought…..are the threaded ends of the hose identical with cones? The threaded ends should be different shapes wits different lengths of thread. If the ends are identical I think they have sent you TR4A to TR6 front brake hoses. (Which are pt no GBH176). rjs993
Thanks . The threaded ends of the pipe are different and have different thread lengths (as they should). One end is fixed at the caliper and the other at the metal flange where it connects to the metal brake pipe. The flexible pipes were supplied by Rimmer so I called them today. They have referred the issue to their technical team promising that they will get back to me by email. Fingers crossed! Edited February 22, 2022 by rjs993
rjs993
The flexible brake pipes are to be returned to Rimmer and they have agreed to supply longer pipes with the same fittings. I am still a little doubtful as they could not tell me the length only that they were longer. Time will tell! Thanks everyone. This is a truly valuable forum.
adriantr4
Me too, precisely as described - also from Rimmers .... And I dimly recall I went round this exact loop years ago when I first got the car. I think a rear brake hose will fit. The old rear one I took off is about 1cm longer than the old front hoses. I imagine Revingtons will supply the right part & I'll collect a credit note from Rimmers. To be fair they were very helpful but didn't go for my suggestion for a note in their catalogue. Any thoughts?
ianc
Yes, Revington TR will supply the correct parts. One of the reasons I purchase from RTR. Ian Cornish
RogerH
And yet the Parts Quality Initiative is sat their doing nothing at the moment. Roger
