MX5 seat belt Question.

Recommended Posts

I have MX5 seats in my car but have not used the MX5 seat belts previously.

In older rebuilds I have just bought a set of seat belts from Moss.

Has anyone used genuine MX5 seat belts in their car and if so any advice would be very welcome.

I could then marry the seat belt to the retaining strap bolted to the car seat.

Best practice is not to use the MX fitting on the seat, I cut them off and use the original TR mountings, a safer option.

+1, DO NOT USE THE MX5 SEAT BELTS AND BUCKLES

The existing TR seat belt mounts are secure and built for the job. The MX5 seats, when in a TR, are likely to pull free of the floor mounts in a big shunt and therefore not fit for purpose if also used as the basis for the seat belt mounts

TR Trader, who have supplied many sets of seat runners, expressly advise against the use of the original MX5 seat belt bracket and actually advise you to cut them off !!

Fitting the MX-5 seats in my TR4A without the bracket was very tight,

and even if I want, I expect it is not possible to fit them with the MX-5 bracket and buckle.
