RogerH
Hi Folks, I have an engineering supplies shop down the road from me and it has an interesting pricing policy. Over the last few years I have bought a 6 pack of blue paper towels. Wickes sell something very very similar for £3.(= £18 for 6) I have paid a maximum of £12 and a minimum of £7. Yesterday I bought another 6 pack, and 100 3.2mm x 8mm raised head Aluminium pop rivets. when I asked the price the lad had a think and £8 popped out of his mouth. I had to ask if that was for both items - and it was. I gave him £10 and said pop the change in the tea kitty. He was most thankful. Another source of saving - I tend to use a lot of Wynnes aerosol brake & clutch cleaner for degreasing things. I normally pay around £3.50 at my car shop (£5+ at Halfords) On Ebay I found 12 tins for £28 (apprx £2.30/tin) It took two days to arrive. Roger

RogerH
Hi Hamish, Although they have an on line catalogue I have not quite fathomed it out yet. They do over the phone purchases, but this is when I paid the higher price for the paper rolls (@£12 - still good value tho') I tend to use the shop when possible. https://www.gilbertlaurence.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItdD2yYCS7wIVQ-vtCh0otQMDEAAYASAAEgIUBvD_BwE Roge
Pogo
Engineers Suppliers are great for thinking up price on the spot - and always good value. Edited March 2, 2021 by Pogo

Roger The thing is, if you keep buying on line, your local shop may disappear. Maybe not such an issue where you live but away from London it’s a definite problem. Rgds Ian Hi Ian, I think if my shop sold everything over the counter, as in my experience, they would go broke pretty quickly. But I agree, if you have a shop that does quality items and a good price then stay with them. Roger
