Chris Clarke
Hi, This is my first post on the forum, and I am relatively new to TR’s having bought my 3a last summer. I have a problem with the handling, the back end wheel skips out on hard cornering on one side and not the other. Also in general the back end knocks a bit and generally doesn’t feel tight (is this the car or an issue?). Would appreciate some insight thanks Chris
RobH
Possibly a loose shock absorber on one side Chris - a fairly common source of rear-end knocks. They need to be really tight.
Chris Clarke
Thanks Rob, I will check
Chris Clarke
Thanks Rob, great diagnosis - the shock absorber is loose! I can see where it has moved and it moves when I pry with a screwdriver
RogerH
Hi Chris, Welcome to the forum Also check the tyres that they are the same - style/manufacture/age/pressure/wear etc Roger
Chris Clarke
Thanks Roger. So I have found all issues now I think. Both shock absorbers were loose and one rear tyre had lost about 15 psi over the winter. When I bounce the car now the knocking has gone, so just waiting for the next time I can go to Sainsbury’s for the shopping to test it out. Thanks for the help
