pinky
hi friends, well I have sorted the carbs dropped the sump pan cleaned and replaced. replaced exhaust inlet manifold gasket flushed with flushing oil car runs nice when cold, as soon as it reaches temperature the car smokes, when it is switched of I have noticed smoke coming from below the exhaust manifold, difficult to see exactly were it is coming from, no oil in the water. I can only presume it is the head gasket ? Cheers pink
Fireman049
Hi Pinky ~ With the engine turned off have you tried removing the radiator cap and then start the engine up. Any sign of air bubbles in the water as you open the accelerator? Tom.

harrytr5
Wrapped exhaust manifold contaminated by oil? Manifold Gasket leaking. A mate of mine many years ago had a gasket on his original manifold to exhaust fitted the wrong way round which nearly blocked both holes. It was fitted by a pro company!. It burnt its way out. He only found out when dismantling. If you have a phoenix manifold the plate is thinner than the inlets flanges. A blob of weld fixes that, otherwise the clamps do not do their job. See you in Stonliegh, Pinky Regards Harry. Edited January 20, 2017 by harrytr5
Hamish
Try something like this to test the head gasket http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/282321382040 Worked on mine
Andrew Smith
Hi Pink, Simple things first - check the block drain tap hasn't worked loose which sits underneath the exhaust manifold as it may be spraying water which is burning off as steam/smoke. Cheers Andrew Edited January 20, 2017 by Andrew Smith
Colin Fairhurst
If it is a four cylinder engine check the three bolts that hold the dynamo bracket onto the engine block. These go right through to the inside of the engine. An oil leak from these can be very misleading and run down onto the dynamo and drip onto the exhaust.
