nrobinson_1
Hi all, I am reconditioning my Lucas ammeter and all parts ok except the piece of plastic that is used for the illumination (see pics). You can purchase all the parts for the ammeter but I do not seem to be able to locate this part. Have any of you guys come across this before? Have you been able to use a substitute? Any info would be most welcome. Cheers Nige
Lebro
Sellotape. ! The only function of the part is to let light in, but keep dust out. Just re-assemble the meter, Then wrap some sellotape (other brands are available) around the outside, covering the slots. Bob.

Don H.
Cut a strip from a clear plastic office folder. AlanR I've done it Alan's way. What's wrong with reinstalling your original, BTW?
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Do not forget to paint the rear area of the centre instrument panel where the illumination bulbs fit with white paint or cover the rear area with aluminium faced adhesive tape. It helped with the light output to the 4 small gauges IMO. Cleaning the dust off the insides of the instrument glasses also helped a whole lot. Ultimately I fitted LED bulbs to all the instrument illumination. Peter W Edited May 20, 2016 by BlueTR3A-5EKT
Nigel C
acetate sheet can be bought from good stationers or art supply shops. cut a strip, wrap round and a dab of super glue as it overlaps. IMO clear self adhesive tape yellows with age and your back to square one
