Slave return spring ?

Recommended Posts

Morning.

I'm in the middle of several jobs at the mo, one of which is a new Clutch, Revington do a return spring for the Slave to pull the bearing away from the cover. It sounds a good idea, has anyone had experience of these ?

Cheers Mark

As I understand things it's not required on the TR6 (or4A) as you would lose the self adjusting feature to accommodate wear in the friction plate. So you'll have to fit the adjustable push rod too and be prepared to keep adjusting it.

Revington produced this for use with a non-standard release bearing (from a Toyota) that wasn't designed to be continuously in contact with the clutch cover - the spring pulled the bearing back and the push rod restricted the clearance.

This was when there were a lot of release bearing failures including RHP.

It may well be the current batch of bearings is better so discussion of this has died away in recent times.
