TR4A1965
Hi All. My first engine guy went out of business (I managed to get the engine back) My second engine guy became very ill and can't do the work for obvious reasons. I picked it back up this morning and it is now back in my workshop. So now I need to get my engine rebuilt and wondered if anyone knows anyone that does such things they would recommend? I was after a fast road spec (potentially). Nothing too flash:-) Not too worried where in the country either. I am in Kent. Many thanks. Paul.
TR4A1965
In addition, I may have found some local guys (1 hour from home). Has anyone worked with these guys before? http://www.cckhistoric.com Best wishes. Paul.
dykins
Paul Not exactly local to you, but Bradbury Engineering near Market Drayton in Shropshire specialise in TR engines. They advertise in TR Action and one of the owners has a racing TR4 http://bradbury-engineering.co.uk/classic-vintage-car-engineers
TR4A1965
Thanks. I'll check them out. Best. P.
TR4Geoff
Hi Paul, My engine was rebuilt four or five years ago by Classic and Modern Engine Services of Bracknell - good job at a reasonable price. The company is run by Paul Adams - not easy to talk to, but a good engineer - he may now have someone else running "front of house"! He can build you any kind of engine you want and has a cam of his own design. Cheers Geoff
stuart
Have you finished rebuilding the rest of the car yet? if not then there is plenty of time to find an engine re-builder as thats the last thing to do. Stuart.
Alec Pringle
Indeed so, don't leave a freshly rebuilt engine lying around for more than a few weeks before firing-up and running-in - and that does mean weeks, not months. Otherwise it will be in need of another rebuild in short order . . . . . Cheers Alec
peejay4A
Wise words those. I did mine in the wrong order and the crankshaft rear oil seal leaks.
TR4A1965
Thanks all. Plan is body back on by January 1st 2015. So I was hoping to get the engine in to someone so I know it is being sorted whilst we do the rest:-) Who knows?!?!? What will happen?? But that is the plan. Best. Paul. JPD
You could try TRGB, not that far from you and I believe they have a good reputation for engine rebuilds. Jeff
BrianC
You could try TRGB, not that far from you and I believe they have a good reputation for engine rebuilds. Jeff Seconded. 27,000 miles on fast-road engine and still going well. I haven't even adjusted tappets since TRGB did the first check and head retorque, etc at 700 miles. [Hope I'm not tempting fate]
