D Murton
Hi all I have all the parts to replace my rocker shaft & rockers except for the mills pins that hold the end caps to the shaft. Is it OK to re-use the old pins? I don't want to risk one coming out & falling down a pushrod tube Thanks Dave
RogerH
The purists may grimmace but I use split pins. Roger
Fireman049
Hi Roger, So do I ! Nothing wrong with this. Much more secure than the taper pins. Tom. Edited October 29, 2011 by fireman049

JJC
Tried for years to find out who Mills was. Anyone know? I thought roll pins came in for use in the prewar auto industry. Is that right? Did they replace Mills pins?
BlueTR3A-5EKT
I think you will find the Mills pin is also designed to fill and seal the holes in the rocket shaft end caps/rocker shaft to keep the oil pressure in and making the oil only squirting out into the rockers. This assumes OE rocker shaft design is used which is basically a thick walled tube without any end sealing plugs. Modern replacements, both 4 and 6 cyl may have a small bucket type core plug bashed into their ends, just like a Mini - stops you ever clearing the sludge out the shaft, and forcing you to buy a new one if you suspect it is sludged.
