The clutch...treading on hamsters

Recommended Posts

While we are on and around the subject of the clutch I would appreciate any thoughts.

The clutch works fine at the moment, but with the engine running every time I depress the pedal I get a noise (like treading on a hamster, or to be accurate what I would think the noise made by a hamster would be, if I trod on one)

Like Roger I have greased the moving bits outside the clutch housing, this had no effect.

I don't think it's too dramatic but It can't be right and I would like to stop it.

Thanks David

Thanks folks

Only squeaks for a moment when the pedal is depressed

The whole unit is new and has only done 50 miles, 25 without the squeak, 25 squeaking miles.

I will live with it for the time being and if it is still happening I'll look again in the winter.

Thanks again, David

Hi David,

I have the same on my newly installed clutch/bearing. It is caused by the release bearing rubbing on the diaphragm finger and not spinning.

With a bit more pressure the bearing grips and starts to spin and the squeak stops.

Leave alone and enjoy it.

Roger
