Mr Blue Sky
Hi all, last weekend the radiator on my TR3 developed a leak from the filler extension neck - manifested itself as a fine spray of coolant over the right-hand front wing (and my hand). It was rebuilt by Cheltenham radiators a few years ago, but unfortunately, the chap has now retired. I called a friend who suggested West Mercia Radiators in Wednesbury (not far from IKEA on the M6 near Birmingham/Walsall). I took the radiator to them today and I had a fully repaired radiator within the hour. Apparently the neck had a minute crack that went all around the join with the header tank. The crack and the join between the radiator core/header tank was reworked. Total cost for the repair was £40. They are a traditional business that deals with all forms of radiators. I have no connection to the business apart from being a very satisfied customer. All that remains is to refit the rad, apron, bumpers, refill the cooling system and reconnect all the electrics! BlueTR3A-5EKT
Fixed mine with JB Weld Water Weld epoxy putty. Did it with the radiator in the car Just dropped the water level cleaned the area mixed up the stuff and spread it on. Not pretty but functional. I now carry a stick in the car boot spares ‘just in case’ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326061917575?itmmeta=01HTNGP1ARZ6ZP59VKD3FNSSFS&hash=item4beace0587:g:bSwAAOSw--Rl~Ept&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8MA0hao9dHipeyuC99FY4%2Fg6yEE96QtuWVq1qrRn3uWUlOy6csp1h3P4nQzEgv0qoQMGrvrKlFNrIEO0Okvc76k%2Bjkb%2B4uoT6vr5B1%2BVYg1dyEwLUVYkPhSO81rdP8lnSVsvDQpRjziDdU12MTEw4tfhhPuF6dSyfYoWVzKXEqKdvB2fSRdd4S%2BxvzS3yMOQ7J88DWPDSbxzUVac4qwsBRT12t0qho1NXAIjrE5TktbSzpvJmf6CANsCUfLh7%2FXyCrkD0aRbMu0cOooQkIAAAszwuJtSIEZfu3eaR6sHcaRPtfZhZzhZGcWhd3Zyed%2FDMg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8yV2LDVYw Edited April 4 by BlueTR3A-5EKT

Charlie D
Many years ago I purchased a job lot of TR bits including a 3A radiator. It looked brand new, but it could have just been rebuilt. It had the triangular reinforcement bracket between the filler neck and the main body that has been mentioned somewhere here before, as a way to stop the neck joint from cracking. Mine had a new “Cov Rad” label fixed to it so I guess the reinforcement plate was standard for radiators that came from the company. Well worth asking for one to be added if you need a radiator re-building. Charlie.
Hamish
That’s great service and makes a change to put some service and parts suppliers in the good news column.
