John Morrison
Just a quick question folks. I know early TR4's had some carry overs from late Tr3A's, front suspension, seats etc., but did any come from the factory with three synchro gearboxes? Cheers John.
Lebro
I very much doubt it, they were fitting 4 synchro boxes to 3B'3. Bob
Bob Smith
John, Is there a number stamped on the outside of the box? The actual position is shown in the Moss catalogue. If it is TS xxxxx then it is a normal 3 snychro sidescreen gearbox. the 4 snychro gearbox fitted to the TR4 starts CTxxxx
stuart
In a word no, however thats not to say that someone has fitted one in the intervening 60+ years to keep it going. Stuart.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Bit like the Spanish registered TR7 booked into our workshop once for a full service…..with a Ford engine and gearbox fitted. The mechanic working on the car noticed the points would not fit. Edited March 21 by BlueTR3A-5EKT
John Morrison
Thanks guys, as usual Stewart is on the money, involved with a gearbox swop, on this 1963 TR4 non-overdrive to an overdrive box, and when we got stuck in, transpires car has been running a 3 synchro box since recent purchase! Hence the question. cheers John.
