Fitting a new tonneau which came from Jon Skinners in Cheltenham. Start in the middle at the front or the back? Any top tips would be much appreciated.

Do on nice warm day or in heated garage.

Remove the car windscreen for easier access.

Find the front to back centre line of the tonneau.  and mark

Find centre line of car and mark.

Do the zip up!

Use a chinagraph pencil to mark the tonneau fabric.  The zip should be the centre at the front but check by folding the tonneau in half.

Measure distance from front pegs to rear pegs.  Measure tonneau front to back and be sure the tonneau is long enough.  If not talk to supplier.

Measure distance between the two rear centre pegs and the two front centre pegs.

Mark the fabric at the front with the two peg positions equally spaced about the centre line.

Punch smallest hole possible in fabric at front and push the fabric over the two front pegs to secure it.  Loop over the steering wheel pocket.

Pull tonneau fabric rearwards to the tension you want   Align centres of fabric and car.  Mark two pegs at the rear.  Big gulp.  Pierce the two peg postions at the rear and fit tonneau to the two pegs.

NOTE Do not fit any fasteners yet.  The small hole allows you to shift the hole position by almost the size fastener.

Start pulling side ways one peg at a time, One side one peg, then the other, then the front then the rear.   repeating the fit to peg trick.  You will walk round the car a lot in this process.  Pay attention to the smoothness of the fabric and its fit as you go.

You will eventually have the tonneau fitted to the pegs without fasteners.

If you are now happy install the LTD fasteners using the LTD punch.

To punch the small holes use a rotary leather punch.

A sail eyelet setting tool will be required for the two 1/4 panel flaps if you have that type of tonneau.

Moons ago I used to loan the tool set but sadly I never got them all back.

Many moons ago  a friend at work would randomly ask people (some he never knew) for the return of his garden fork. They all said they never had it.

He never did bump into the borrower.
