One of my suppliers (reliable workshop, also trading with parts) told me this racks are made at Türkiye and Argentinia.

One of both is poor and the other the better quality. But I forgot which one, this is no problem because most suppliers anyway don’t know.

Ordering one I had to wait until he was able to sell me the better one.

True or not? I don’t know.

btw the aluminum housing is till tight on the steel tube, but I don't know if this was his quality criterion

I think the TR7 (modified) rack supplied to me by Revington TR for my conversion was made in Argentina. It appears to be of good quality.

On some (or all?) new steering racks there is a construction fault:

the drilled nut on both ends, holding the tie rods and allow them to angle, are smaller than original.

This is why the tie rods can be angled less (the issue is down), this in no problem - until the car is jacked on the front!

In this case the coil springs press the wheels down and pull / bend really bad on the steering rack and the aluminum housing.

This is more the case if the rack is lifted by aluminum brackets.

I posted this several times at this forum but never got any reaction.

I’m an idiot and should stop pointing on this….

with the reproduction rack

with the original rack

btw bending on the rack and aluminium housing could be the reason for the housing moving apart from the steel tube,

but somebody how has this problem must find out
