Phil Read
My TR250 has wire wheels presenly fitted with 165 r15 tyres. I am looking to replace them but can only find 165/65R15. Are these the same?
trchris
Hi Phil No these have a lower profile the 165R15 tyres are an 80 profile they are harder to find but are around at a reasonable price Chris

RobH
65 section are lower profile so have smaller rolling diameter which makes the gearing wrong and the speedo would over-read wildly. 165/80 -R15 are what you need.
trchris
RobH has beat me to it yes 165/80 R15 is the same as 165R15. 80 profile is the standard then it goes down 75/70/65 etc lowering the profile will also gradually alter your speedo reading as well Chris

Lo100469
an 80mm profile gives you compliance and some flex that suit the car well. i would not go to a lower profile but you will find many different opinions about tires.
Phil Read
In the end I bought these from Tyres.net, 165/80 R15 87T Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 K435 they came from GIGA tyres, less than £50 each delivered. Tyres.net have lousy revues, mainly due to delivery times, mine took just over 2 weeks.
John L
What are date codes like, don't forget this will be a MOT failure soon if over 10 years old. you will probably reach the life span rather than wearing them out, unless of course the tracking is wrong. Phil Read
Date codes are March 2022.
