Drewmotty
What would make a rack not suitable for competition use but ok for the road?!
PodOne
Rimmers Quality control dept saying don't edge your bets, that's if it fits at all in the first place! Doesn't bestow much confidence to those who do the occasional track day.

BlueTR3A-5EKT
Was not the trick to be fitting the early Herald/Spitfire pinion instead of the TR one. It had more teeth compare to the TR, so giving faster rack.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Read the Moss description. Steering Rack, quick rack, high ratio, RHD These assemblies are factory lubricated with lithium grease (not oil as per the originals). They are sealed, and are not meant to be re-lubricated. The racks are for street use, not racing, modern suspensions and wide sticky tiers generate forces the original Triumph design simply was not designed for, even with the improvements of modern manufacturing. Part Number: 306829HR So what happens when you fit the readily available from Classic car specialists and wire wheel makers, 6" wide chrome wire wheels with the optimum width 205 section road legal modern tyres ? (see what I did there? Spelt Tyres or Tires correctly.)

They put loads into the 50 year old suspension, in particular the stub axles, which the components were never designed to take.
Drewmotty
When I built my rack and pinion steering conversion I looked inside a new TR7 rack made in Argentina; it was nasty so I ended up sourcing an original second hand unit which I had much more confidence in.
