nigtr6
Does anyone know of a source for Tr6 fuel cut off switch or inertia switch as it is sometimes called. If they are no longer available what are members fitting in place of the original switch?
openroad
Hi, have sent you a PM...little envelope top right of the page, should have a number next to it. Cheers, Conrad.
john.r.davies
nigtr6, I think if you search you'll find this has been discussed before (Surprise!) There is a modern impact switch that is used by too many manufacturers to mention them all, but Ford, Jaguar, GM etc. Looks like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Switch-Inertia-Immobiliser-Impact-fits-Opel-Vauxhall-Arena-Movano-Vivaro-Genuine/133450285212?epid=27035078209&hash=item1f1241c09c:g:0rkAAOSwwAldMi46 This is new and so, pricey. If you can get from a breaker's, with the connector block and leads - makes wiring in much easier. And look for one with three leads - that will turn on a pilot light on your dash if the switch trips, so you know why the engine has stopped! (happend to me, when I drove over a kerb! Nige, if you still have your original switch, it will come apart for cleaning the contacts - just carefully use a small flat blade on the 2 plastic clips, warm the plastic a little first. If someone offers you a second hand one, it may be furry contacts inside so you'll still need to do this anyway or suffer voltage drop at the pump (unless you have a seperate 12v supply fitted via a relay?). paul7
I fitted one supplied by the MG owners club spares (sorry!!) I’ve just looked and the switch on it’s own is £14.95 inc VAT. But I’m sure they do a kit that includes the plug and a short length of wire to connect to existing wiring. Not sure if is 2 or 3 pin. I fitted one to my old 6 with success. OldBob
Internal contacts and basic operation of the original switch can be seen in these photos.
Mick Forey
I fitted this one a number of years ago: https://www.revingtontr.com/product/RTR8346K Mick

Lots more now on the Bay for less than a tenner, inc. an Aston Martin one (there's posh!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Inertia+switch&_sacat=131090&_sop=15&_pgn=2 John
