RogerH
Hi Folks, I was asked last night how to dismantle the handbrake and I couldn't for the life of me remember. This is for the top button/inner spring etc etc Has anybody got any clear pictures and/or explanation? Roger
rcreweread
Roger - here are some photos of the bits excluding the lever itself which is away being rechromed - without that I can't remember either how it all goes together but I do recall it needs to come apart from the bottom to get the knob, spring and shaft out. Hope this is a bit of help at the very least Cheers Rich
RogerH
Hi Rich, many thanks. Your pics have have moved something in my filing system. Remove the bottom end ratchet/pawl. Slip the wire off the ratchet and then extract from the top. There must be a lip on the inside of the handle tube for the spring to sit on. Thanks again Roger
Graham Harris
There should be a washer that is the right size to sit on the spring and stop it from coming out the tube, it's a vital part. Graham
RogerH
Thanks Graham, will pass on all the info. Roger
John Collins
So, someone else seeking re-chroming!! Thanks Roger et Al, I shall now proceed with caution and make sure to look for that washer! Many thanks. John C
