crops
Knowing that a lot of members have other classic cars I'm asking has anybody got a REAMER for kingpins for a MGB that I could buy/hire. I'm trying this forum as I have found it to be a excellent site.
RogerH
Hi Crops, what size are you after. An expanding reamer is, surprisingly, not expensive from TRacy Tools. They do good quality taps and Dies and apparently reamers https://www.tracytools.com/straight-taper-reamers/19-32-21-32-adjustable-reamer Roger
crops
Thanks for reply Roger. I think that's the answer. The fixed reamer supplied by such as Rimmer Bros and similar comp. want around £150 its a lot to do just one job. Hence to ask our our forum site. Dave
RogerH
Hi Crops, does the Rimmer reamer have anything special about it - a pilot etc. Roger
tim hunt
+1 for Tracy Tools Roger. I recently found this company excellent value for a set of quality tap drills. Tim
Grahamgl
Roger, The Rimmer reamer looks totally different to an expanding reamer. On the Rimmer one the cutting flutes are in the middle of the tool and a little way in from the end, not on the end like an expanding one. Graham

It is a special tool made for the job. There is no easy way round not to have that tool other than taking the bits to an MG specialist and getting them to ream the bush to size. I speak from experience! Bruce.
RogerH
Hi Folks, I am at a disadvantage as I do not know what the MG bush looks like. What is special about it that requires a special reamer. Roger

RogerH
Thanks Roger, that puts a different complexion on it. So it has 2 different diameters cutting at the same time to keep it in alignment. Roger
