dykins
Was it my imagination or were there less TRs there this year? Having said that, it was still very enjoyable Peter 1963 TR4
malcolm
I hope someone has some pictures of the day. I was quite upset to have missed it but would still be happy to see some pics of the rest of you enjoying yourselves Malcolm.
Al_
thanks to the TR register for a great day out, many thanksJosh I would just like to echo this. This was my first track, but after yesterday, I think not my last! The whole day was well organised, marshalled and just plain great fun! It really was great to see such a range of Triumph's our and really running. Not something you get to see that often. All I now need to do is get a new water pump sorted :-) Al
malcolm
Links to a couple of picture galleries put together by James and Kevin from Club Triumph. What a shame to have missed so much fun Kevin's Pics and James' pics. Malcolm.
john.r.davies
I'd like to echo that with my sincere thanks to the TRR (and TSSC) members who organised this meeting, and the good if cold weather. Yes, it was fun, meeting old friends again and having a track bash. It also revealed my car's weaknesses and suggested some solutions, which has to be the purpose of a track/test day. Luckily, the cars last suggestion, that one wheel less might further reduce aerodynamic drag, did not lead to the usual consequence of spinning off, digging into the grass, instant death roll. Just a spectacular (from the inside) triple Salchow. Sorry, guys in the second to last session. Less fun was the inexperienced and aggressive behaviour of some entrants. What didn't you understand about the drivers briefing? - "OVERTAKING IS ON THE LEFT". I'm proud of my car, both for its engineering and its appearance. To be run into by a shed, even one with more horsepower than sense, is not pleasant. To get the two fingers on the next lap is just rude. I'm NOT a race or track day virgin. In fact, these remarks may be considerd by some to be typical old f*rt. In racing such behaviour may be acceptable, just, we're all human and we go racing for the challenge - it happens in the heat of the moment. But on a commercial track day, you would be escorted off the park for behaviour like that. No arguements. We were lucky to have a wise MSA Clerk of the Course in charge, but he has no authority over people without a race licence. For the continuation of this event, and so that non-racing members will continue to enjoy it, I hope that in future the TSSC/TRR will take more authoritative action. In particular, may I suggest that they take a tip from the commercial track day organisers and rule that overtaking shall NOT occur on corners, only on the straight? Guest joshb
I was watching from the hairpin when i saw the incident i think John is referring to, John had just exited the hairpin and was heading towards the right hand side of the track as i think he may have seen the TR7/8 close behind him before the hairpin, the offending tr7/8 accelerated quickly and overtook John on the RIGHT, scraping the entire side of Johns car, the TR7/8 appeared to be a race car as it had livery and stuff on it, and also had considerable damage on its left hand side from what must have been a coming together in a previous event!. John was doing all the right things as per the track day rules but the TR7/8 driver was totally out of order, treating the event as some kind of race meeting. it was a real shame to see johns car get damaged in that way through no fault of his own Edited April 6, 2006 by joshb
jellison
What were the stand out fast cars there from the racers? To much on for me - Pity.
