Rear Hub Bearings . In a Pickle

Recommended Posts

Those are the spares you will want on hand.

Again, the smaller outer gaiters respond well to application from a heat gun, then twist them onto the axle end, once in place.

Be sure to lube the u-joints- once they are installed, you can't get at the Outer u-j grease nipple- it will be tucked inside the TA.

The rear prop shaft u-j can be reached from the bottom- it is The most critical u-j to keep greased. Liberally grease the axle splines.

Do pay attention to the previous comments on the TA stud nuts, 16ft-lbs torque, no more- they are notorious for stripping.

Rich,

if your existing gaitors are ok, I would re-use them. Often new rubber products are not very good, so I re-used mine, which still looked ok.

I re-used my bolts, but installed new rings and nuts at diff side and on TA studs.
