woodward
Hello, I have a '64 TR4 with a vent in the petrol cap and at a recent rally the scrutineer pulled me up on this and suggested that I plug the hole in the cap and install a vent thet passes through the floor of the car with a non return valve on the end. Has anyone done this and how and where did you attach the vent to the tank? I would prefer not to have to invest in an early TR4 tank if at all possible. Thanks Myles
stuart
Original early TR4 tank did have this vent tube same as the sidescreen cars. Stuart.

stuart
No non return valve though? Not originally no but its a modern fitment to pass scrutineering. Stuart.

MikeF
On my 62 4 the tank is vented by a simple tube which has been soldered in (surprisingly) approx midway between filler and (car) right end of tank. The other end of pipe is open and dangles unsupported below bottom of tank, There is no need to make a hole in the floor of car.. From memory it has ID about 3mm which would be 1/8" in TR money. Always thought it rather crude and possibly not original, it's on my look into when I've done more important stuff list Edited June 23, 2018 by MikeF
