John Bracher
Gents Needing to replace the heater valve on my 6 (old one developed a leak). The valve spigot was VERY seized/galled into the extension pipe, so that came out too when I removed the valve. Extension now duly cleaned out and ready for refitting with a new valve. Q. Should I put anything around the threads into the head (for the extension pipe) and into the extension pipe (for the valve)?? PTFE tape? Hylomar? Any other suggestions? I feel the head to extension pipe joint probably gets fairly hot! Thanks! Oh, and 'Tip of the week'. A 1 litre 'Lenor' fabric conditioner bottle, split down the middle and spout cut off, makes a great 'starter motor umbrella' when draining/flushing the cooling system on the 6 cylinder engine!
