rcreweread
Hi all Would appreciate some help identifying a master cylinder - its a Girling with the numbers "875" and what looks like "64675575" cast on its side- photos below ( hopefully!) Any help much appreciated cheers Rich
john.r.davies
The "875" might refer to the internal diameter, 0.875",but that's a bit big. Would give you a short throw, but need more foot effort. John
stuart
Single band round the casting denotes 0.75" bore master so early TR4 to CT5783.Though I would check pushrod length is correct as often not. Stuart.
rcreweread
Stuart Thanks for response - with the single ring, I was thinking the same as you but was thrown by the "875" and the different part number to the early ones in the Moss catalogue ( assuming the number cast into the housing is the part number!). Was hoping someone might have a Girling parts book to be able to accurately identify it. Do you happen to know the correct lengths for the pushrods for both the brake and clutch m/cylinders? Cheers Rich
Alec Pringle
Hi Rich, 875 usually refers to the internal diameter 0.875" or 7/8", and whilst in TR terms the single band applies as Stuart suggests (at least in my experience) and equates to 0.75" that is not necessarily the case for other marques . . . . . some Ford master cylinders for example, as one of Julian's Mallock cylinders bears the same codes as your cylinder and is, I think, one of the larger Fords of the late 60s and definitely 0.875" id.
