Fireman049
Is it correct to apply copper grease to the back of new brake pads? Tom.
BrianC
I don't know if it is correct, but I have always done so as it seems to stop the rattles and prevent squealing as there are no anti-squeal shims behind the TR3A pads. I clean the backs of the pads and reapply copper grease whenever I grease the front suspension.

Alec Pringle
What's more important is to ensure that the pads actually sit cleanly in the housings - clean up the housings and the pad edges - and that the pins are smooth and free moving. A small dab of copper grease won't do any harm, for sure. Cheers Alec
Fireman049
Thank you Alec ~ I have new calipers, discs and pads which I may fit one day if I feel up to it. Regards ~ Tom.
TorontoTim
At the risk of hijacking this thread... Over on the TR4 section there's been a discussion about the best available pads, especially for "fast road" use (or what I might call "normal TR driving" ). My 4 has the early calipers a la TR3's; what are the thoughts on best available pads for those A or B type calipers? Source would help too. Thanks!
