RogerH
Hi Folks, last week I noticed how far the pinion and housing stick out from the OD. This means that the speedo cable has to make quite a curve to run along the GB towards the bulkhead. Is it possible to shorten the pinion and housing by apprx 1" #97 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/clutch-transmission-drivetrain/overdrives-components/overdrive-units-components.html Roger
Dave Larnder
Roger Use a right angled drive out of the g/b like I have done from Moss, see my question type message, on here. Dave
RogerH
Hi Dave, I do use a RA drive at present. What I am looking at is to straighten the run for the cable by reducing the length of the pinion housing. Is this possible? Roger
stuart
The non overdrive box one doesnt stick out anywhere near as much, is there a difference? Stuart.
Chilliman
Nor should the o/d boxes......
RogerH
Hi Stuart & John, are you saying that my pinion housing is too long - 3" including the RA drive. Are there shorted ones.? Roger
Chilliman
Not sure to be honest Roger, all I can say is I've got a number of O/D units and the speedo drive only sticks out of the casing about half of what you are showing in the photo. I can't get to the garage at present but when I can I have got a full unit on the bench & can let you have some measurements/pictures....I've also got some spare dive units I could measure for you in case your is different. RogerH
Hi Bob, yes it does. The body of the pinion housing looks much the same. So, are there shorter ones? Can they be shortened? Roger
Lebro
Anything is possible, but why should you have to, has it not been fine up to now ? Bob.
RogerH
Hi Bob, yes it has been OK. However when I spotted the 'out of alignment' it bugged me. Why have it longer if it could be correct. !!! Roger
Lebro
This has been covered before ! http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/45357-overdrive-right-angled-drive/ Bob.
RogerH
Thanks Bob, I wonder why I did not query it then. Perhaps I'm getting bored and need things to do. I'm building up for some decorating. pretty soon. Roger

Lebro
Hardy's may also be able to help, they had lots of "spare" parts for O/D's when they did mine Bob.
