Fuel cap seal / gasket

Recommended Posts

There is what looks like a very eroded fibre washer inside my fuel cap. Apart from some inner surface rust due to 7 months dormancy, the cap is in vgc, but i cannot see a replacement on any of the obvious websites. is this a replaceable part? or should i just build it up with a thin beed of silicone or hunt down an o-ring ?

I used gland-packing similar to this (I had some lying around), not sure about the size though:

You could get a big O ring or rubber strip of the right cross-section and just cut it to length - join the ends with superglue.

TR Shop have complete replacement units, the fibre washer is also available or you can as stated use an "O" ring.
