TriumphV8
All filters I used are 1/2 UNF. Some rare are M14. I would recommend not to use the fibre washers because some of them loose tension by the time and let the fuel pass. I found the steel or aluminium washers better that carry a rubber layer inside. Also the upper rubber ring for the bolt that holds the lower cup under the filter element in place should be watched.

Thanks Andreas, Do you have a supplier for the steel or aluminium washer with rubber layer inside you refer to? The fitting has stalled, the fibre washer I understood to be 7/16" (11mm) internal dia is actually 1/2" (12.7mm) x 13/16th (20mm extrnal dia), and can I find any nope! So the LHC (Long Haired Colonel) leapt on the opportunity and had me finishing off the decorating of the hall, stairs and landing - now finished, so I can get back to some meaningful TR DIY!! peejay4A
Isn't that a Dowty washer?
Andrew Smith
Isn't that a Dowty washer? Pete, The Dowty washer fits on the PRV and is copper and wouldn't stop fuel leaking past. Cheers Andrew
TriumphV8
Did see them as a set in GB quite cheap but unfortunately again lost where it was. In Germany I bought them at ISA Racing and have them in use both on fuel and on oil http://www.isa-racing.com/index.php/cat/c139_Dichtringe.html
peejay4A
OK. I was going on Andreas' description. AFAIK they're available in aluminium and steel as well as copper but whether that's suitable I don't know as my 6 is long gone.
stuart
Pete, The Dowty washer fits on the PRV and is copper and wouldn't stop fuel leaking past. Cheers Andrew A Dowty washer is ally with a rubber ring inside it not copper. Stuart.
Andrew Smith
A Dowty washer is ally with a rubber ring inside it not copper. Stuart. Thanks Stuart, The last Dowerty Washer I bought was copper and I didn't recall the internal rubber seal, so stand corrected. Do you happen to know if the internal dia is 1/2" with an external dia of 13/16"? Cheers Andrew
