pedlar17
I am fitting wires to my freshly restored machine. What spinners would have been supplied originally, 2 eared or 3 eared. Also I have seen some two eared with the triumph logo, which I do like. Would these have been supplied originally.

pedlar17
Were octagonal spinners fitted for all years? Or did it vary I understand wires were no longer offered after 1972.

Yes, only octagonal 'spinners' were available from ST who discontinued wire wheels as a factory accessory in May 73. Cheers Andrew
Denis
Yes, Hexagon Nuts! My car had the original Factory 72 spoke, stove enamelled, wire wheels as a factory option when it was purchased by it's first owner, I was told this option cost just an extra 60 quid back in 1969 ! Previously I had a TR4 with wire wheels, which had two ear knock-on spinners...I tried them on my 6 but they just didn't look right at all !
Marc R
Hi perlar17, As per my understanding, the evolution from 2 ear to hexagonal knock-on spinners was mainly du to an evolution of the safety regulation to protect pedestrians in case of accident. Hi Denis, Considering when I worked at Triumph in 1969 my weekly wage was between £40 -£45 for a 48 hour week.. £ 60 was a lot. Kind Regards, Dave
