mjdearing
These carbs are a rare find and wondered if anyone had a need. ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Twin-choke-DU6-SU-CARB-CARBURETORS-VINTAGE-RACING-MOTORSPORT-COVENTRY-CLIMAX-/161500602552?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item259a2fa0b8
pfenlon
Seems a record price will emanate from this listing, I haven't seen any for sale previously. I presume parts are readily available, but is it the bodies that are extinct?
Paul Hogan
£450 quid is stupidly cheap for these carbs. They are as rare as hens teeth. The last set I know of sold for in excess of £1500 and needed rebuilding. Parts are available but you have to know where to look. The biggest problem is that there is no choke mechanism and so cold starting is always a problem. That wasn't a problem on race car which is what they were built for. Originally fitted to Coventry climax engines they were also used on the Sabrina engine TR's and on some XK 120/140 Jags in period. Its not known exactly how many sets were made but I've been quoted figures of around 80 -90 sets. They were superseded by the availability of the much more reliable twin choke Weber coming on to the market and so they were never developed. As far as I know they were never fitted to any production road cars although at least 1 TR4 was fitted with them ( with the Sabrina engine) for test purposes. hogie
stuart
They do look to be relatively complete which is very unusual and I suspect that they will make stonking money. That said best of luck trying to get them to run right in anything other than a Motor sport application . I know Phil Tucker spent a lot of time getting them to run right on his TR3S rep. Stuart. graeme
Any idea what happened to these carbs, they seem to have disappeared. Graeme
