TonyC
Just a quickie for all you 6 experts. Manual says that sump can be removed with engine in the car. Is that literally the case or does engine need to be lifted at the front so sump can drop a bit yet still clear the chassis cross member. Appreciate all input. Thanks TonyC
Jersey Royal
Tony Sump removal shouldn't be any problem, don't need to lift engine. Just remember the two bolts that go across the front sealing block, and the two rear into the ally oil sealing casing are different length bolts to the rest. You don't want to over torque those when you put it all back Cheers GUY
Red 6
Just to 2nd the point about not overtightening the front bolts. Everyone does!
RobinTR6
Same for the rear ones. If the sealing block seals were leaking oil, usually a dribble the sorting that while sump is off isn't expensive nor difficult.
steved69tr6
Easy job on a TR6, did it with mine 4-5 months ago. undo all your bolts and it just slides backwards and down. Use a little bit of wellseal when you put it back up (DON'T CAKE IT WITH WELLSEAL THOU, it sticks like sh*t) and just nip the bolts up, take it for a few runs, and check the bolts again just nip them to check there ok, not to tight, just a nip will do Cheers Steve
