Fireman049
I'm about to fit a new clutch assembly to my 3A. Should I lightly lubricate the main shaft and if so what with? Tom.
pfenlon
I think the brass bush in the flywheel is of the oilite Variety?, I put my gearbox in the TR4 yesterday and I didn't use any lube, I doubt the factory did either Tom. Others will add more positive info I'm sure.
stuart
Always lightly lube the splines, a small wipe of copperslip will do. Stuart.

Andrew Smith
I changed mine a few moths ago and also converted to a TR6 Diaphragm clutch many years ago for a much lighter clutch action - a worthwhile mod: Cheers Andrew
Guest ntc
Andrew That would not make it lighter there must have been something wrong before
Fireman049
I'll be fitting a brand new Laycock pressure plate and a lightened steel flywheel. Tom.
Andrew Smith
Andrew That would not make it lighter there must have been something wrong before Nothing wrong with the previous spring clutch apart from a heavy pedal heavy Neil - the diaphragm is a huge improvement. Guest ntc
There is no such thing as a heavy clutch on a std Tr
Lebro
I have a GT6 diaphram clutch in my 3 (to match the Triumph 2000 gearbox) & it is a lot lighter than the previous standard clutch. Bob.
Fireman049
When I changed my original and HEAVY spring clutch for a Laycock diaphragm clutch on my 3A it was much lighter in operation. Tom.
