boxer
Trying to remove crankshaft pulley have removed dog bolt should it pull straight off? or do i need a puller? Bob
Bob Horner
In theory it should just come off but I had to use a puller to help it on its way. Bob
Geko
or WD40 + rubber maillet on the pulley to give it some slack (gentle - vibrations are more important than strenght)
Lebro
Puller is the best way - it is not on a taper, so should come off without too much trouble. Bob.
RogerH
Hi Bob, if the sump is off then it can be teased off with an ali drift and hammer. I can be quite stiff. Onvce moving it comes off quite well. If the sump is on then a fairly long jemmy used around the periphery will help. Roger

Lebro
I most certainly am not !! By the way, once you get the pulley off you would do well to check out the timing chain, & tensioner, I'm glad I did, 'cos the tensioner was half broken, & chain well worn ! Nobody's uncle Bob. BlueTR3A-5EKT
Don't bend the pulley when levering. If in doubt use a puller. http://www.hdrmedia.com/Mustang/pulley_stock_puller.jpg Cheers Peter W
