Badfrog
Hi all, Does anybody know about a commercial source for vinyl (or fabric) grille or radiator covers for TRs? I'm getting tired of adhesive tape and cardboard. Badfrog
Alec Pringle
Don manufacture radiator covers to order, see link and look at the Services tab . . . http://www.donhoods.com/ Probably a lot cheaper if they ran off a small batch, maybe one or another TR specialist might be interested ? Cheers, Alec
Badfrog
Thanks Alec, I asked for a quote. The grille cover mention almost escaped me, these blue on black websites are a pain for the eye. Cheers, Blind Batfrog
cliveinfrance
Hi Badfrog I agree that the Don site is not easy to read................but their products are excellent. I have a mohair hood with zip-out rear window on my TR4A which they made for me. My brother-in-law, who restores MGB's and E-type's uses them constantly. I think that, as his eye-sight is no better than mine, he does not use the web to contact them. In fact he has been using them for the past 30 or 40 years. So I guess it's snail mail or telephone in his case! regards Clive
Menno van Rij
A few years back, I found a Wilcot Radiator Muffette on a Dutch website (like marche.fr), bought it and sold it to a fellow forum member who went to Denmark with wife, kids and the TR. I am not on on my own computer at the mo, so I cannot post pics of it. I will try to do so later today. Having said that, my vintage Saabs used to have a 'muffette' as well: for the colder climate, Saab sold an accessoire to be mounted in front of the grill of the 96. My latest Saab didn't have one, so I made my own: I took the hard (black) hard plastic bottoms from two shopping bags and cut them into shape. I pierced a couple of holes at the corners and used tie wraps (or how are they called in English?) to tie the covers to the grill, leaving a little space, about 15 x 15 cm for some air flow. The hard plastic covers are salt and water restistant and can be cleaned easily. Menno *pics to follow* Edited February 12, 2012 by Menno van Rij
TR 2100
With all the mods you have made to your engine, I'm really surprised you need to even think about blanking off part of your radiator, even in the current cold spell. TR 2100 isn't modified much more than Lady Anne and even on a cool autumn day, I'm up to a very good working temperature rather quickly. AlanR
Badfrog
Alan, On the nosey, ain't for the Lady. She usually goes around without much undies, tub-wise. In fact, I'm also the TCF forum webbie and as such I have to cater for the needs of TCF members. A nice bunch but not the type to drive in hawaian shirts in the winter time. I requested a quote from Don Hood, we'll see. Cheers, Badfrog

Blind Batfrog Hi BF, A tip for websites that use poor colours. Put your curser in the upper left of the screen, press and hold the left button and drag the the curser to the right and down. The text will be highlighted and is usually white with a dark background. Cheers
