Jersey Royal
Hi All, Been putting back hydraulic lines, and am now focusing on the Tin Can. It leaks from its base, i have taken it apart with the help of a 3/4 socket on extension bar down the centre and spanner on the outside. On my can there is the remains of a very thin rubber washer, feels more like silicon. So i need to locate two Washers that are Brake Fluid proof. I have done an internet search and not come up with anything as yet. Anyone been down this road and suggest what material these washers should be made of..... Viton ?? Jersey Royal
Interesting little buggers they are Guy Dont forget it must be set at the right height or it will hit the bonnet Thanks Neil. For reference i have ordered the washers plus unions, as they come as a set from http://www.coastings.co.uk/ Cost £14.60 including p/p and Vat. Will put up some photos when they arrive. Thanks for the Link Stuart. Cheers Guy Edited October 24, 2011 by Jersey Royal
Ashley James
I bought a new one and mounted it high enough for the bonnet to hit the lid and then a few days later the paint started to craze because it doesn't get on with brake fluid! Aaaaarrrrrgggghhh!

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhh! Apparently Frost do brake fluid proof paint now for just that sort of application. Stuart.
Ian Vincent
For what its worth, mine had aluminium washers. I made sure that all the surfaces were squeaky clean and did the unions up nice and tight. So far, fingers crossed - no leaks. Getting the reservoir at the right height is all about putting tight bends in the pipes connecting the reservoir to the master cylinders. I struggled with mine but got there eventually and then read the post about filling the pipes with sand before you start to bend them. Wish I'd read that first. M. Pied Lourd
Thanks Ian, I was beginning to worry that I was missing the rubber washers. As you can see, I have the aluminum washers as well. Cleaned up nicely though.... Cheers, M. Pied Lourd

Jersey Royal
Nice job. Will be interesting to see what i am sent Cheers Guy Well this is what i have recieved today, four copper washers and two new unions. The unions are longer and the hole in the middle is larger, they fit the pipe couplers so no problem. Fitted the copper washers either side of the Reservoir, and there is a larger steel washer on top then the nut. I have completed the instal and the assembly is on test , so far so good.
