angelfj
After a bit of angst, I decided to retire the AR Wheels on my TR250. After all, they've been on for 25 years and are probably 35 years old. They are just too rare and valuable to take any chances and I really want to drive the car more often. I opted for the 16" - Konig Rewind wheels and Falken Ziex tires. I just took a quick drive down the local highway and I really like the feel and handling. I also think they look very good, although it may take some time for me to get used to them. American Racing Silverstones New Konig Rewind "Boots" P.S. I recently became aware that AW have reissued the "Silverstone Wheel". However, the +16mm offset make them unsuitable for the TR. stuart
Interesting to see that you have gone to 16". I like the wheels but arent they available in that style in 15". Dont forget your speedo will need re-calibrating now Stuart.

Rained 5 inches in 14 hours on Friday! The 16-inch wheels - yes - apparently one of the bright guys on the 6-pack did all of the leg work. Apparently, the 15 inch wheel encounters some interference in the front - not sure exactly. I can find out if you are interested. BTW, these are not what I would consider expensive wheels and tires. At today's exchange rate, the wheels are £79 and the tires are £52. I don't know if Konig or Falken distribute to the UK. The speedo - how is this accomplished? You can get Falken tyres over here but I suspect not the Konigs. I have the speedos recalibrated at a specialist over here. I would imagine you could get the same service your side of the pond. Clarkey
Hi Frank Your new Boots look fab. I had a a full set of Avon 195 65 15 fitted last week to the beast. Have you noticed a big difference to the feel of the car........ I have been blown away with how different the car feels
Bald Rick
There is an importer of Konig wheels. They advertise 15" rewinds at £485 per set of 4. Don't know if they are special order or what PCD they are available in. They look the DBs as far as I'm concerned. I've always liked them. Can't get the bloody hyperlink to work as usual (only half of it appears on the screen) but here's the webpage (I hope): http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/konig_alloys?gclid=CMGYuenPuaQCFdD92AodgjnLgA You'll need to click on the "show me more 15" wheels bit Tony
pfenlon
Hello Frank, I like your new wheels but the original silverstones are marvelous, I have a set on mine (I think) can you put a pic of the centre cap your using on the old set please, I had four alloy billets turned and put a Triumph badge of stainless in the centre. Is there any corrosion evident on the Silverstones, if they are magnesium they are apparently prone to it.
TR4AIRS
Why would you want to have your speedo recalibrated? When you fit larger alloys, the height of your tires will have to go down a little bit. You can check all the correct sizes at the tire size calculator @AngelFJ: What are the dimensions of these wheels? Did you go for the 7 X 16 ET0? Kristof.

The combination of the 16 inch Konigs and new tires make the 250 feel like a modern car. That said, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the ole silverstones! Mine came with Nok-Off , faux spinners. Yes, magnesium will oxidize in the presence of water. What I did was to polish the rims, but let the spokes develop a nice gray patina. Then I just put on some old fasioned paste wax, the kind with carnuba.

I need to check to be sure. AND the 205-60R-16 is absolutely the largest tire that will not rub against the inner wings.
