david johnson
The TR3A thermostadt appears to be just that, with no electrical connection. Is that right and can anything be done if it is not working. Thanks David J.
stuart
I assume that you actually mean the temperature sender. That is a capillary type and yes they can be repaired. Speedy cables/JDO/Classic instruments all offer a rebuild service. Stuart.

Is that right and can anything be done if it is not working. Thanks David J. Have you removed it from the housing to check it? Or have you concluded from the gauge behaviour that it isn't working? If the former, and you've tested it in hot water and it is not working, I don't think you have much choice but to chuck it and get a replacement. Original bellows style ones are very rare. The alternative is one from Halfords with a restrictor in the by-pass hose (search forums for "restrictor"). If the latter, and you think it is sticking open, it may be that a previous owner has removed it. If it is still there and is sticking, see above. Andy
Andrew Smith
Hi David, Yes, it is a mechanical unit - originally a bellows type. If you are sure it's the thermostat then just change it, I believe that repro bellows are available. Cheers Andrew
jean
The original style thermostats are available again, but at a price. Unfortunately they are the only type working properly on a sidescreen car.
david johnson
Thanks all. I meant the temp guage as Stuart guessed. David J
