About Me
In 2017, I got back into a TR after a 37 year absence.
My first Triumph was a 1966 Spitfire, which I owned in Southern California. I really enjoyed that car, driving it all over. When I moved to San Francisco, I sold it.
After marriage in 1977, my wife and I bought a 1962 TR3B as our second car, which was a bit of a rust bucket. I planned to do a full restoration, but once I took it apart, I lost interest in rebuilding, so I sold it for parts.
In 2017, I bought a 1957 TR3 in Connecticut, which had been F/O restored by the PO in 1987! It wasn't driven much and was stored for the next 30 years! It has no rust and is a very nice daily driver. I spent the winter of 2017-18 replacing rubber parts, fluids, rebuilding carbs and distributor and generally keeping as original as possible.
In the winter of 2019, I had Macy's Garage in Tipp City, Ohio rebuild the drivetrain: Motor (with an upgrade to 87mm pistons), gearbox, OD and differential and rear suspension. In fall, 2019, I had them rebuild the front suspension.
In 2020, I installed an interior trim kit from JF Skinner, in "Stone," an original color from 1957. The car also had body repair work and a respray in "Signal Red."
I purchased an early 1962 TR4 in 2020, which is being restored by Macy's Garage to be finished in summer 2023.
I also purchased a 1970 TR6 in 2022. I have sold the TR3 (08/22).
