Nick Brooks
Does anyone know how to fit new rubber bushes/grommets in the holes of the wiper motor mounting plate. They are one piece hard rubber bushes which aren't squashy enough to compress to go through the hole. Tried soaking in boiling water. The only solution seems to be simply cutting the bush in two and fitting either side. Sure that's not what was intended! Any ideas? Thanks
peejay4A
I remember mine being a struggle to fit but they went in eventually. I used a narrow nylon scraper to persuade them.
harrytr5
Cut one side of the grommet off, fit it to the mounting plate and super glue the halves together. The trouble with the repro rubbers today is, they are either too hard or perish very quickly. Regards Harry.
Nick Brooks
Thanks both. If they were softer rubber like the originals, I could have fitted them. So Harry thats the conclusion I came to for these harder rubber items, but I like the idea of super gluing them together, thanks.

stuart
Like Harry says often the grommets etc are made of too hard a "Shore" rubber and a lot of the time you are unable to fit. The floor grommets on 4/5/6`s are another one and the foot on the front seal on the soft top frames is another. Stuart.
boxofbits
Try WD 40 and a screw driver to lever them through. Wear gloves!
