TR4 HEATER AIR INTAKE FLAP ROD & TRUNNION

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where I can obtain an actuating rod and a trunnion for opening/closing the scuttle flap which is acually the correct diameter to accommodate the aftermarket larger diameter rod? Or, a s/h set?  Heater scuttle flap currently remains closed!  My experience is that trunnion AUE34 is far too small.

Best wishes         Willie

Hi Willie,

Threads seem to indicate that this has been an issue for a while https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/19382-fresh-air-vent-flap/

but AUE34 can be drilled out to accommodate the rod.  Otherwise it is a matter of sourcing a used item or a similar part like bike cable fixings with the right diameters e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADJUSTABLE-THROTTLE-VINTAGE-SCOOTER-MOTORBIKE/dp/B075ZYNJ2G?th=1

Hi Mark, AUE34 is too small to drill out to be wide enough.  I am hoping someone can steer me to a supplier of a giant version of AUE34. The unit supplied is in reality the size for clamping the heater cable to its water valve.
best wishes.    Willie

Long shot……

Do you have a heater water valve on your engine?    Is the trunion on the cable clamp the right sort of diameter?   The cable hole will be too small but perhaps it will drill or file out to accept the 1/8” diameter rod .    It uses the same locking screw as the trunion you are after.
