Locking washers don't work.  NASA says:

"The lockwasher serves as a spring while the bolt is being tightened. However, the washer is normally flat by the time the bolt is fully torqued. At this time it is equivalent to a solid flat washer, and its locking ability is nonexistent. In summary, a Iockwasher of this type is useless for locking."       [https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19900009424/downloads/19900009424.pdf]

Get some Nord-Lock washers if you don't want anything to slacken. You can get them in stainless steel or Delta Protekt material. I got some off eBay last month.

If there is no space for a washer, use some Loktite and activator to hold it together. My Harley is held together with it, as correctly applied as per the Mantenance Manual, and Harleys vibrate quite a bit.

A decent spring washer when flattened is not just flattened but is aiding the torque loading due to the tensioned spring.

NASA may have rockets - but they have lost a few.

From experience over many years with my 1970 Triumph 650 bike, Nylocs work, and so do Loctite type locking compounds, but split washers and star washers are not reliable. Twin locking nuts are also effective where there's space.

The Triumph 650 is a parallel twin cylinder design, both pistons rising and falling in unison. It's legendary for vibration at speed!
