StuartG
Hi My car does not have the stays / strengthening rods from the inner wing to the front valance. How important are these ?

How important are these ? Yeah, car manufacturers who are noted as being amongst the meanest, most avaricious entities on Gods earth, just bolt these stays onto the cars they sold because their sheds were full of them, and they needed somewhere else to put them ! You’ve guessed it, without the strengthening rods the front of the car with it’s upper and lower valance will roam around as it encounters bumps, the tightening of the rods puts a stress into the panels which adds to their resilience to vibration and bumps. You should have some miniature versions of these under the dashboard connecting the dashboard to the bulkhead, these do a great job of stiffening up the dashboard and damping the vibration enough so you can read the instruments. Waldi
Hi Stuart, Mick above explains why. They are made from tube with both ends flattened and could be easily made by yourselves. The ends are bend a bit to follow the contours of the wing. Cheers, Waldi
