NOS ones came into the spares system back then for a reason. They didnt fit the cars on the line. The standard practice back then and this applied to all manufacturers was as they were building the shells any panel that didnt fit went on the side and at the end of the week they were shipped out to the dealers to be sold as replacements for accident damaged cars.

Yep,

and that principle carried on into the Classic Car restorers world.

A restorer would pass the 'Worst' panels on to the customer through the door, keeping the better ones for

his workshop.
