Graeme Robinson
Apologies if this subject has been covered previously but what is the correct size tyre to fit the spare wheel well on a 3a; I’ve just fitted a 155/80 tyre to a brand new wire wheel & it doesn’t fit, in fact it’s not even close. Before buying this size tyre I tried a steel wheel with the same size tyre & fitted fine. thanks graeme
John Morrison
Hi Graeme, thats interesting beacuse most folk would say a 155 is the way to go. Are you offering up the wire wheel in the well correctly, I.E. upside down? John.
RogerH
Hi Graeme, I;m sure I have read on here that the boot floor can collapse over the years thus removing valuable fractions of inches. Roger
TR 2100
Roger, I wouldn't quite call it a "collapse" but weight in the boot over the years will gradually stretch the flat boot floor and it will 'ding' downwards, quickly reducing the critical depth of the spare wheel compartment to the point where the spare wheel will not fit (or cannot be removed!). A competent welder should be able to spot-shrink the floor back to original profile. AlanR Edited March 23, 2019 by TR 2100 typo
Graham Harris
Is your wire wheel a 48 spoke 4 1/2" rim anything wider will have trouble fitting. Graham
