Phil Reade
Hi Can anyone give me some idea what mpg to expect from a standard TR4 with 3rd & 4th o/drive gearboxed car for, combined local use, and cruising jouirneys at say 60 mph. Many Thanks Phil
ianhoward
Hi Phil Whilst my old TR4 did not have O/D fitted, I was regularly obtaining around high 20's and on a good steady run achieved 31-32mpg. So with O/D and properly set up carbs, I can see no reason that you cannot better this! Not bad for an old tractor engine! MikeF
I was waiting for a proper expert to reply, so meanwhile my humble offering..... it all depends how heavy your foot is, but I would say 30-33 mpg would be a reasonableexpectation of an o/d
Robin Powell
Hi I certainly get 30+ out of my O/D TR4A and driven carefully on a long journey up to 35mpg.
Phil Reade
THanks Guy's, Not long on the road I am only acheiving 24 mpg. I guess I'll have to fine tune the carbs now, hoping things are settled down, but at least I know now what mpg I'm looking for!!! Rgds Phil
